Scary moments for students, teachers, and parents on Thursday morning at Palo Duro High School. The school was placed under lockdown due to an unspecified event according to the Amarillo Police Department. The lockdown was lift shortly before 1:00pm and APD provided more details on what caused the order to be given to lockdown the school. Officers received information that a juvenile was in the area of NE 9th Avenue and Don Drive and was possibility armed with a gun.

School Liaison officers identified and located the person, and they were taken into custody after a foot chase. Officers did not recover a weapon form the subject. The school was placed on lockdown while officers searched the area along Don Drive for the weapon. No weapon has been located.

At this time, there is no additional information about the person of interest and whether there will be any charges pending.
