Willie Nelson Urges ‘Vote ‘Em Out’ in New Song Debuted at Beto O’Rourke Rally [WATCH]
Willie Nelson's newest song, "Vote 'Em Out" -- which he debuted at a Beto O'Rourke rally on Saturday evening (Sept. 29) -- isn't shy about its political message, and neither is the country legend. Dressed in an O'Rourke campaign shirt, Nelson took the stage in support of the Democratic candidate before a large and enthusiastic crowd in Austin, Texas, in an event that was billed as an evening of "music and fun" and also featured Leon Bridges, Lukas Nelson and more Texas artists.
"If you don't like who's in there, vote 'em out / That's what Election Day is all about / And the biggest gun we got is called the ballot box / If you don't like who's in there, vote 'em out," Nelson sang in the first verse of the song, as fans in the crowd cheered along. "Vote 'em out, vote 'em out / And when they're gone we'll sing and dance and shout."
Nelson has previously been vocal about his support for O'Rourke, as well as his left-leaning political views in general. While his support for the Democratic candidate earned the country star flak from some of his conservative fans, Nelson says that the negative response from listeners who don't agree with his viewpoints doesn't bother him one bit.
"Everybody has a right to an opinion," he recently explained on The View. "I think I have one too."
