Ok, so here's the deal. We've got construction. A lot of it. It's not going anywhere, guys. It's time to find a way to cope with the frustration and traffic jams. How are we going to do that? I've got something for you.

Why not follow these "10 commandments" to abide by when you're behind the wheel in Amarillo? You just might find driving in and around the city more tolerable. Ready? Away we go:

Commandment #1: Thou shalt allow others to merge

Seriously, traffic flows MUCH better when you're kind and let someone onto the freeway.

Commandment #2: Thou shalt lay off thy horn

We can't go anywhere either. Blaring your horn is only going to anger us even more. If you have to ask yourself if you should honk your horn or not--chances are, you don't.

Commandment #3: Use thy blinker

Maybe if you'd let me know where you're headed, I won't hit you. Use your blinker as you would have others do for you.

Commandment #4: Learn to use a 4-way stop

I know, it can be tricky, but we can stop playing the game of chicken (or "who goes first?") if you just learn the two rules. No, I won't give them here, go learn them.

Commandment #5: Thou shalt not be the 5th car to turn left on a red light

This one drives me up a wall. All you're doing is messing up the flow on the other side of the street. Stop it.

Commandment #6: Thou shalt show compassion.

I'm just as upset as you are. Maybe smile at me rather than glare at me. I didn't create this mess, buddy.

Commandment #7: Thou shalt be kind to road workers

I know we all want to blame them for this mess, but it's not their fault. They were told to do a job, that's all they're doing.

Commandment #8: Thou shalt not road rage

The last thing we need is you rolling your window down and screaming obscenities. Keep it to yourself.

Commandment #9: Thou shalt turn thy radio volume up

The louder the music is, the less horns and frustration you'll hear.

Commandment #10: BREATHE!

For real, it's gonna be ok. You're still going to make it home, it's just taking a little longer.
