Your Bell Street Commute Is About to Get a Lot More Complicated
Traffic in Amarillo has been crazy. It seems more and more people are on the streets. At any given time, it feels like traffic has doubled in just a few short months. Even though school is out, people are still going to work and commuting to and from Amarillo. When something interrupts that drive or commute, it is annoying.
Well, if you happen to take Bell Street on your commute and it takes you past 45th, then you need to prepare yourself. Starting today, 45th and Bell will temporarily become a 4-way stop. This means you are going to have to be patient, get ready for traffic backups, and remember how to navigate a 4-way stop. You need to know what to do because it is almost guaranteed that someone around you will not know what to do.
Why TxDOT Is Temporarily Changing the 45th and Bell Intersection
According to TxDOT, their crews will be doing traffic signal work. They expect to be finished by Friday, June 5, but in the meantime, you need to be prepared for traffic issues in that intersection.
4-Way Stop Rules Every Amarillo Driver Should Know
- Come to a Complete Stop: Stop fully before you go
- First Come, First Served: The first person to stop is the first person that gets to go.
- Yield to the Person on the Right: If you are not sure who stopped first, then you need to yield to the right.
- Vehicle Going Straight: If you are needing to make a left-hand turn, the person going straight has the right of way.
- Pedestrians Always Come First: The person walking has the right to go before the vehicle does.
Other Amarillo Road Projects Causing Delays This Week
On another note, if you travel I-27 south or Rockwell Road, expect delays while TxDOT crews replace the barrier wall. They expect that project to be finished by June 4.
