Amarillo Business Closing Their Doors: One Less Place to Get Parts
One Amarillo business has announced plans to build a new building for one of its stores. Meanwhile, another business has announced that it is closing one of its stores.

It seems that businesses in Amarillo are dropping like flies. That may sound harsh, but that is the reality we face every day. Plus, many people are losing their jobs.
On November 14, Advance Auto Parts announced their third-quarter results and a strategic plan to rebound from losses. Unfortunately, the plan includes closing stores across the country. The company will close over 700 stores, including 523 corporate-owned stores and 204 independent locations. It will also close four distribution centers.
It seems that these closures are hitting close to home. Amarillo currently has three Advance Auto Parts stores.
It looks like we will be losing one of those stores. The Advance Auto Parts Store located at 1309 E. Amarillo Blvd., is one of the stores that will be closing. When asked when the last day of business would be, they said that they didn't have an exact day but it would be early February when the store would finally close,
What does that mean for the other two stores?
Advance Auto Parts at 4210 SW 45th confirmed during a visit that their location will remain open.
Meanwhile, the Advance Auto Parts store at 5712 W. Amarillo Blvd declined to confirm whether they would stay open or close, instead directing us to contact their corporate office. As of the time of publication, corporate has not responded to our request for comment.
In the last few weeks, it seems like businesses in Amarillo are closing at an alarming rate. One can only hope this will slow down and stop.
