Amarillo Backs the Blue As Thousands Line I-40 to Welcome Officer Scherlen Home
Amarillo is a great city to live in an is full of amazing people. We are a city who supports it's people and that was evident on Saturday as thousands lined I-40 to welcome home Officer Justin Scherlen.
Officer Scherlen passed away while on vacation with his family. Officer Scherlen had been injured in a wreck in September of 2015 while on duty.
On Saturday he returned home. The people of Amarillo showed up to pay their respects and to welcome him home. Thousands lined I-40 and the overpasses of Bell and Avondale. The Amarillo Fire Department had two of their engines parked in the overpass of Bell and I-40 and flew the US Flag.
Funeral services for Officer Scherlen,will be at Hillside Christian Church, 6100 S. Soncy Road, in Amarillo. Services are scheduled for Wednesday, August 10th , at 10:00 AM.
