It’s the End of An Era for Girl Scouts in Amarillo, Texas
Girl Scouts has been a time-honored tradition in Amarillo. Many a young girl has taken the Girl Scout journey.
When most of us think of Girl Scouts we think of the delicious cookies they sell once a year, never even knowing the greatness that will happen with the money they raise.
If you have driven down 45th between Bell and Coulter over the years, you've always driven by the Girl Scouts office. It's a big building with pillars covered in rocks and a Girl Scout green trim. That's why it was shocking to drive by and see another business sign in front of the building.
D3 Insurance Group is now the occupant of this historic building. The building belonged to the Girl Scouts for decades.
In February, the Girl Scouts administration announced they would sell their infamous Girl Scouts building located at 6011 SW 45th Ave.
The sale proceeds were invested in updates to Camp Kiwanis and a new modern program and retail space. The new office for the Girl Scouts is located in The Markets At Hillside, 7620 Hillside Rd #300.
Once the 2023 cookie season was over, the move began to the new location.
“Our girls are doing so many amazing things and will continue to do so as they reach for the stars. We will provide so many great future opportunities for our current and future Girl Scouts. I am so excited for the growth and possibilities our girls and our families will have with this transition. Your continued patience and support are two of the many pillars that lift our girls to their highest potential,” -Kodie McManus, co-chair of the Amarillo Program and Property Committee
Although change is inevitable, it's just sad that the Girl Scouts won't be located in that building anymore.
