I Tried Amarillo’s New Utility Billing System And It Was Simple
The City of Amarillo just rolled out a new Utility Billing System, and like most people, I expected it to be a hassle. Truthfully, it was easy to re-register my account. As long as you have your old account number, the process is quick.
Although the City updated its systems not long ago, it has now completed another software installation. The COA shut down utility billing payments from Thursday, March 26, through Monday, March 30. On Tuesday, March 31, they debuted the new billing system on the City of Amarillo website.

How To Set Up Your New Utility Account
So I jumped in and set up my new account. I went to the City of Amarillo Utility Billing, and from there I scrolled down to the Look Up New Utility Billing System Account Number. I entered my zip code and my old account number from my most recent bill. Then I clicked sign up.
From there, I received my new account number and clicked Access the New Utility Billing System.
It asked for the following:
- User Name
- Password
- First Name
- Last Name
- Email Address
- Phone Number
- New Account Number
- Phone Number for Verification
- Zip Code
Once I filled out the required information, I had to wait for a confirmation email. After receiving the email, I confirmed and was able to log in to see my new account. From there, I was able to add my husband as a user. Then I was able to see my new bill.
Here's the cool thing: it looks as if my automatic payment information transferred over, and it didn't require me to go in and pay. The system showed this message:
You are enrolled in our Pre-authorized Payment plan. Payment is not required as we will automatically withdraw payment.
Now let’s hope everything processes on time. Fingers crossed.
What Surprised Me Most About The System
- Auto-pay carried over
- Setup was fast
- Interface was clean

Why This Might Be A Big Improvement
It may seem like an inconvenience to go through the setup process, but the new utility billing website looks clean, and you can actually see how much water you are using each day. Compare your bills from month to month and even year to year.
You can also request service from the website, such as transfers, terminations, installations, etc.
Jump in, sign up, and get started with the new Utility Billing System. Hopefully, it makes paying your bill and monitoring your usage much easier.
