Amarillo Homicide Detectives believe that Matthew Dillon Jones is still in the Amarillo area, more specifically the Tierra Grande neighborhood. Wednesday, Amarillo Police Department SWAT Team, Potter County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies conducted a joint operation in an attempt to locate Jones.

After several hours of searching for Jones on Wednesday, evidence indicated that Jones recently had been on foot in the Tierra Grande neighborhood in Amarillo.

Jones is still at large at this time, and APD is advising anyone in the area to be cautious when entering abandoned or unused building, campers or trailers.

Jones is considered armed and dangerous, if you see him call 911 immediately.

 

As I reported last week the Amarillo Police Department, on May 22nd at about 1:50 p.m. officers were sent to 3611 NE 17th Avenue on a reported cardiac call. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased person at the residence. The Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.

The deceased person was identified as 24-year-old Kennee Allynn Griffing. The 47th District Attorney's Office issued a murder warrant for Matthew Dillon Jones on Thursday May 30th

Information on Jones’ location could be worth as much as $3,500, according to the APD release.

According to the APD release:

Matthew Dillon Jones, 24, is described as a white man, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair.

Jones is wanted by the Potter County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of murder.

Jones also is wanted out of Randall County on a charge of bond surrenders for robbery and theft of a firearm.
