History of Tacos Garcia in Amarillo

One of those restaurants just happens to be Jorge's Tacos Garcia. They have been a part of Amarillo since 1988. They have been serving up delicious Mexican food since they came to the Yellow City. You may be familiar with their location at 1100 Ross St. They have been in that location since 1993, when growing popularity required a building bigger than their Amarillo Blvd location.

Where is Tacos Garcia Moving To in Amarillo?

They aren't going far, but will soon leave their home since 1993 for a familiar spot west on I-40. Tacos Garcia is moving to 1619 South Kentucky. If that address sounds familiar, that's because it has been home to some pretty great Amarillo restaurants.

Gardski's once called this address home until they closed in the early 2000s.  Not long after Gardski's closed, Leal's Mexican Restaurant opened there in 2004 and closed in 2020. Senior Chubby's opened in 2022 but closed six months later.

What to Expect at the New Tacos Garcia Location

We are looking forward to serving our community in this new capacity and are hopeful that all will feel at home as we continue to share the flavors and traditions of our roots

Now, Tacos Garcia will be moving in, and with their established customer base, they will make this location a hot spot. The new location will also open them up for an entirely new customer base. The move will make the restaurant more centrally located in Amarillo.

When Will Tacos Garcia Be Opening in Their New Location?

We are hoping to be settled in January, so stop by the old location before then!

It doesn't matter where they open in Amarillo as long as they bring the trio of salsas and their amazing margaritas.
