
Big Change Coming To Amarillo Utility Billing System
Nearly every home and business in Amarillo has one thing in common: utilities. Water and trash are billed through the City of Amarillo.
Amarillo Utility Billing System Getting Upgrade
As time and technology change, the City of Amarillo wants to make things easier on those paying their utility bills. The COA is bringing a more modern payment process with easier navigation and more detailed account access.
New Features Coming To Amarillo Utility Bills
This new upgrade is expected to make things easier for Amarillo residents, with features that include:
- Detailed water usage tracking
- Flexible payment options and scheduling
- Improved account security
- Better customer service tools
When Amarillo Utility Payments Stop
The new system will go into effect on Tuesday, March 31. The system will be down Thursday, March 26, through Monday, March 30. During this time, the COA will not accept payments online, over the phone, in person, or through email. In other words, no payments will be accepted.
No late fees will be applied during this time.

What Amarillo Residents Need To Do Next
Residents will need to register in the new system. You will receive your first bill from the new system in April. When you receive the new bill, you will create your new account.
To register, you will need the following:
- The account number from your new bill
- Your phone number or driver's license number
- Zip code associated with your mailing address
Important AutoPay Changes You Need To Know
Please note: Previously scheduled payments and AutoPay will NOT transfer over.
After registration, you will need to make a payment before setting up automatic payments. You will still be able to make payments by phone or in person.
Keep in mind you will receive a new bill even if you are paperless. Watch your mail and be ready for the new utility billing system from the City of Amarillo.
The 2022 utility software update caused plenty of issues for residents, so this is one upgrade you’ll want to stay on top of.
