The new Fire Station 13 is located in Southwest Amarillo between 45th & Bell and Coulter. It is fully operational and helping the community. The new fire station was built to help Amarillo's fast growth and offers some unique features and upgrades. Fire Station 13 is a little bit bigger and has a modern feel along with newer facilities.

The large garage now holds one of the city's two Panhandle Regional Urban Search and Rescue trucks. These trucks are used in situations where people are trapped in rubble or in small rural places. There is also a basement that can be turn into a gym for the guys. For residents who feel they are in danger, there is a safe room in the front of the station if needed.

Some firefighters were moved from fire station 9 over to help fully staff Fire Station 13. On 34th and Western, Fire Station 9 is still active, but now the guys will just run the fire engine with four guys.
