Exciting Development Coming to Amarillo’s 34th and Georgia – Here’s What to Expect!
Amarillo continues to grow every day, expanding in all directions. One particularly busy area is the intersection of 34th and Georgia, which many people travel through daily. This intersection is set to undergo some changes soon.
The Georgia Village Shopping Center at the southeast corner of 34th and Georgia has undergone many changes over the years..
In 2020, a fire blazed through the strip mall destroying the building. Many businesses were affected by the fire including Bark Avenue, Phone Medic, Sloss Barbershop, Cricket Wireless, and many more. Unfortunately, the building was lost, and the remnants were torn down and the area cleared.
In April 2022, Scooter's Coffee opened on the shopping center corner. The construction displaced the infamous "Rug Guy" who has set up shop there for many years. Luckily he returned not long after the coffee shop opened.
Now another big change is coming to the shopping center.
AutoZone is Moving and Building a New Location
AutoZone is currently at 3412 S. Georgia, but won't be there much longer. They will have a brand new shiny building at 3409 S. Georgia, across the street from their current location.
We contacted the store and learned that construction is expected to start in August 2025. It will take a while before you can shop at their new store. Additionally, we reached out to their district office for more information, but we had not received a response by the time of this publication.
The project is expected to cost $2,749,941
