The one thing about Amarillo is that the summers can be hot. One way to beat the heat from the Texas sun is with a big glass of iced tea. I mean, it's the official drink of Southerners. Iced tea can come in many variations, but the most popular is sweet tea.  Sweet tea usually requires at least a pound of sugar.

Iced tea is a religion in the South. Iced tea even has a special day to celebrate, and this year it falls on Tuesday, June 10.

I am a fan of iced tea, I would take that any day over Coke and other drinks.  However, I don't do sweet tea, I enjoy my iced tea unsweetened. That may sound sacrilegious, but it's still iced tea. Heck, if you think that is bad, my fella won't touch iced tea, sweet or unsweet, that might be the okie in him. However, I'm trying to slowly integrate iced tea into his life.

Since it is summer, you can probably make some of the best iced tea ever in your backyard, Sun Tea. All you need is a big glass container with a lid (you can find them with spigots in most stores), and 2-3 family-sized tea bags. Just fill the jar with water, put the tea bags in, and close the lid. Set it outside on a sturdy, level surface in the sun, and by the end of the day, you'll have sun tea. You can add sugar or leave it unsweetened, pour it over ice, and enjoy!
