Best Places in Amarillo To Eat on Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is one of those days where you picture a huge meal of turkey, dressing, all the sides, and desserts with family spread across a huge table.  However, sometimes, that great big meal becomes too much.

It seems more often than not, people are turning to restaurants in the area to cook up some great food for Thanksgiving.  Some are offering the entire Thanksgiving spread.  Others are offering up their regular menu.

I mean why would you want to spend all that time cooking and then cleaning, when someone else can do it for you?

Here are some great restaurants that will be open on Thanksgiving Day*.

Big Texan Steakhouse

Amarillo's most famous tourist stop offers up a huge Thanksgiving buffet each year.  Not only can you enjoy a great Thanksgiving meal, but you can enjoy being a tourist while visiting the Big Texan.  The buffet will have carved turkey, cajun turkey, prime rib, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, salad, green beans, yams, cranberry relish, and rolls, and end your meal with a piece of pecan or pumpkin pie.  Reservations for parties of 6 or more are highly encouraged.  They also have a takeout option.

Saltgrass Steakhouse

Saltgrass wants you to start a new Thanksgiving tradition.  Most of their restaurants will be serving Thanksgiving dinner.  They will have a turkey plate on the menu with roasted turkey breast, dressing, gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, and a choice of salad or soup.  Plus, their regular menu.  My family has taken advantage of Saltgrass Steakhouse being open on Thanksgiving many times and their food is always amazing.

Golden Corral

This is another great place that will take care of your Thanksgiving meal.  They will be serving up a great selection of Thanksgiving fare including holiday roast beef this year on Thanksgiving Day. They also have a Holiday Feast to go.

Cracker Barrel

Cracker Barrel will be opening on Thanksgiving day serving up  Thanksgiving favorites, like turkey and ham, and potatoes and rolls.  The restaurant will be open 7 am - 10 pm, but won't start serving Thanksgiving favorites until 11 am.  Don't forget you can start your Christmas shopping in their country store.  Cracker Barrel also offers Thanksgiving packs you can pre-order.

 Applebee's

Select Applebee's will have their doors open for Thanksgiving Day.  They will have their regular menu available. Want to save some money, check out their 2 for $25 On another note, their Sleigh Bell Sips are only $6.

Denny's

Denny's is always open, so yes it will be open on Thanksgiving.  You can enjoy breakfast for Thanksgiving or order up some of their other menu items and you can't go wrong with their pie.  Plus, Amarillo has 3 different Denny's.

IHOP

IHOPs again are open all the time, and if you are craving some pancakes on Thanksgiving or a great omelet then enjoy your Thanksgiving meal at IHOP.

Waffle House

C'mon it's Waffle House, who wouldn't want a waffle and some hashbrowns that are scattered, smothered, covered, chunked, topped, diced, peppered, and capped on Thanksgiving?
