The Texas Panhandle is filled with small towns, but it is our small towns that make the Texas Panhandle what it is, a great place to live.  Now if you grew up in one of these small towns, yes, the adage is always "there's nothing to do in this town".  However, there is always something to do in a small town.

Two of our small towns in the Texas Panhandle made a list of the Most Boring Towns in Texas according to a video posted on TikTok by 2t.map.

I take a little bit of offense at this because I grew up in this town, and although there wasn't a lot to do in this town, it is far from boring. There's more to do now than when I grew up in it.

Hereford

Why did Hereford end up on this list?  It said it was because it offered minimal cultural venues and few events.  Making it less stimulating for residents.

It does have few cultural venues, but it does have a museum and for a small town it does have some fun events throughout the year.  So does a town have to be stimulating to not be boring?

Hereford was at number 4 on the list.

Zapata, Texas was at number 5 with Lamesa, Texas at number 3.  However, when you get to #2 it is another Texas Panhandle town.

Borger

I know for a fact Borger does its best to have fun events throughout the year and most recently remodeled their Dome.  At any given time you can find a fun event going on in downtown or in The Dome. However, this video states it has a small population and sparse amenities resulting in scant recreational and cultural activities aside from basic hiking options.

Borger was #2 on the list.

Whoever put this video together didn't really do their research.

Pecos, Texas was listed at #1.

What do you think? Did the right cities make the list?

Hereford, Texas' Past Includes a Sugar Beet Plant Called Holly Sugar

Back in the mid '60s, a sugar plant was built in Hereford. The plant used sugar beets to produce tons of sugar. Unfortunately, the plant closed in 1997, leaving hundreds of people without jobs.

The Charm of Main Street and Downtown Borger, Texas

This once-lawless Wild West boomtown is now a quiet town of 13,000 nestled in the Texas Panhandle. Located 40 miles north of Amarillo and 13 miles from Lake Meredith, the city of Borger is your typical small town. Friendly faces and warm greetings will surround you as you stroll down Borger's Main Street--a trip we highly recommend you take at least once in your life time.
