Amarillo is known for its abundance of businesses. Unfortunately, Amarillo has recently experienced the closure of numerous local establishments. Regrettably, this trend seems unlikely to stop, particularly given the current economic climate. It is disheartening to report that Amarillo has lost another local business.

Budnuts Mini Donuts

Budnuts opened their drive-up at 10th and Madison in Amarillo in December 2021 and have been a source of tiny delicious donuts in Amarillo.   If these mini donuts seemed familiar, they were available at the T-Anchor Flea Market for many years until 2015.

On November 2, 2023, the owner posted on Facebook how tough things had been and that Budnuts was struggling.

BUSINESS HAS BEEN REALLY SLOW Y'ALL.* For us to be able to keep open and continue making these delicious warm Budnuts for you we're going to need y'all to come in and see us.

Amarillo behaved as usual and came together to support this business, bringing in a wave of new customers.  The line to get donuts was long and anyone that could was showing love to a local business.

Their business seemed to improve, however, they closed it for good on July 8, 2024.

The building Budnuts called home will now belong to The Music Box, which has been a decades-long staple in Amarillo for decades.

The closure of Budnuts makes the third Amarillo food establishment to close recently. Malcolm's, Sakura, and now Budnuts. Let's hope this is the rule of three, and no more local businesses will announce a closure anytime soon.

We wish the owners of Budnuts all the best as they start new adventures.
