Amarillo is full of tourist attractions.  We are most famous for Cadillac Ranch and of course the Big Texan with the 72oz Steak Challange, but we are constantly evolving with our tourist attractions.

Heck, Amarillo is getting their very own Buc-ee's very soon.

One relocated tourist spot is The Bug Ranch. Originally situated in Conway, Texas, the attraction moved after the land was sold, requiring the iconic "bugs" to be excavated. The owners of the Big Texan took over as the caretakers of The Bug Ranch. The new location features the famous bugs, along with the former Big Texan limousines now buried in the ground.  The Bug Ranch is located in front of the Big Texan RV Ranch at Sunrise and I-40.

Recently, a giant Howell Drilling rig was set up on the property of The Bug Ranch.  This particular rig was drilling a water well on The Bug Ranch.

What Could This Mean for the Bug Ranch?

Keep in mind that all of this is pure speculation about what it could mean.

1. Irrigation

A water well on the property could mean that the landscaping at The Bug Ranch will need irrigation and you have to have water to water grass and plants.

2. Restrooms

When stopping at a tourist attraction, it's always a plus to have access to restrooms. That means you'll have one less stop to make on your trip. Restrooms require water, and water requires a well.

3. A Visitor Center/Gift Shop

Wouldn't it be cool to have a little shop where you can grab spray paint, souvenirs, information, and maybe a drink or snack? A visitor center would require water, and therefore, it would need a well.

4. Water for the RV Ranch

This well may also service the RV Ranch and both properties will use it.

Again, this is all speculation. We reached out to those who run The Bug Ranch, but at the time of publishing, we had yet to receive a response.

But in the meantime, The Bug Ranch now has a working well.
