One of the great things about Amarillo is that there is no lack of restaurants in the city.  Many of our restaurants are local and have become staples in many families' routines. Some of these great restaurants have multiple locations, while others just have their main location that people frequent religiously.

Why Calico County Is an Amarillo Staple

One of those restaurants is Calico County. Many people in Amarillo have grown up eating at this local restaurant. From the cinnamon roll and bread basket that drops before your food, to the down-home meals available to order. It's comfort food, and it is well-loved.

Bell Helicopter’s Longstanding Amarillo Presence

Another great thing about Amarillo is Bell Textron, known forever as Bell Helicopter.  Bell Helicopter has been a part of the Amarillo community since the 70s, but became a major presence when it started building the V-22 Ospreys in the late 90s. Located on Airport Blvd and Tiltrotor Drive near the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport. Bell Helicopter employs around 1000 people at the Amarillo plant.

That's a lot of people, and every single one of those people needs to eat. While many bring their own meals to work, the facility offers a cafeteria for employees to purchase food during their meal breaks. However, cafeteria food can get a little boring, and that's how Calico County and Bell Helicopter have come together.

How the Partnership Came Together

Calico County recently announced that it would be serving up its delicious menu of food at Bell Helicopter.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Bell Textron Inc. Starting in 2026, Calico County will be operating out of Bell’s kitchen and serving their employees the great traditional meals that Amarillo has loved over the years.

What This Means for Bell Employees

Employees will now have a delicious restaurant choice for their meals. Although the Calico County restaurant at Bell Helicopter will only be available to employees, it will be a nice addition for the staff. They began their partnership at the start of 2026.

This isn't the first restaurant in Amarillo to operate in a larger facility that employs thousands of people. Pescarez, a local Italian restaurant, is available to BSA Hospital staff.
