Getting to Canyon: Traffic and Parking Tips

If you are heading to the parade from Amarillo or other towns, get there early. Traffic from Amarillo to Canyon will be backed up, and due to the construction, your drive time will be longer. If you choose to travel VFW Road/FM 1541, be prepared for a backed-up drive. It's not a shortcut anymore. Everyone else is having the same idea.

Parking will be crazy. Most parking lots on the parade route fill up fast, so be prepared to walk a very long distance to the parade route. If you are parking in a residential area, please be courteous and do not block the residents' driveways.

Most people reserve their parade spots the night before by leaving their chairs and marking their territory. Again, get there early for the best view spots.

There are limited restroom resources on the parade route and on the square; plan accordingly.
