Whataburger in Canyon Finally Gets Opening Date

Canyon, Texas is growing. It is growing in population, it is growing with expansion, and it is growing with business.

It's no surprise that big-name businesses would start to notice and start opening in this small city. One thing that Canyon has been lacking, especially since WTAMU is in the heart of the city is a Whataburger.

In 2022, we heard that Canyon was finally getting its own Whataburger.

Let's face it Whataburger is a Texas staple

Why shouldn't Canyon have a Whataburger, especially within walking distance to WTAMU? It's better than having to drive 10-15 minutes to get to the closest one, which is on Hollywood Rd/Loop 335.

In 2023, we finally had confirmation that Whataburger was moving into Canyon.

The building is complete, and the staff has been hired and is currently training.

When is it opening?

Canyon's Whataburger's unofficial opening date will be Tuesday, September 10th. By unofficial, we mean what we hear from employees and social media buzz, not the actual corporate rep.

UPDATE 9/06/24: We have the official confirmation! Whataburger in Canyon will open on Tuesday, September 10th, at 11 am.

UPDATE 9/10/2024: The Canyon Whataburger will open with drive-thru service only, and in a few weeks the dining room will open along with App and website orders. The first guests in line in the drive-thru on September 10th will receive Whataburger for a year, and the next 200 will receive Whataburger swag!.

The restaurant at 100 N. 23rd St. pays respect to Whataburger’s storied history while looking to the future with a forward-thinking design. It features a double drive-thru, digital menu boards inside and out, and five curbside spots to serve guests best. A custom interior mural features West Texas A&M University with Canyon splashed across the wall.

The operating partner is Cynthia Rodriguez and the restaurant employees over 60 locals.

What-A-Burger!!!!

There you have it, you can now get your Whataburger, Whatachick'n, Green Chile Double, shakes, fries, spicy ketchup, chicken biscuits, and taquitos.

Just remember, when they do finally open, this is a new location, and they will be working out the kinks, so don't be too hard on them if something is messed up. Be happy that Canyon finally has a Whataburger.
