The Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith has informed Bears fans that WR Johnny Knox has had back surgery today and will miss the remainder of the season.

Knox underwent surgery this morning for a fractured vertebra he received in yesterdays game against the Seattle Seahawks. Knox caught a ball from his quarterback only to have it knocked loose by a Seahawks DB. While trying to recover the football he was hit into an awful position by Seahawks defensive end Anthony Hargrove.

Coach Smith said the surgery is not over, this is only the first one to maintain his vertebra. Though the hit looks like it would do much more damage than it did it will not affect Knox' career but he is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
