Amarillo, Texas is full of history.  One of our most historical routes is Route 66 and millions of people over the years got their kicks on 66 here in the Yellow City.

The iconic route used to run on what is now Amarillo Blvd, and there are plenty of historic buildings and hotels on this route that were the hip place to be back in the day.

Sometime between then and February 2025, the building got worse, and the iconic sign finally gave up the ghost.

It looks as if remnants of the pole that held the sign lay on the ground.
