The surprise collaborative performance by the Dixie Chicks and Beyonce at the 2016 CMA Awards has won the two acts two 2017 Golden Boot Awards. Their performance of "Daddy Lessons" was voted both Collaboration of the Year and the Year's Most Unforgettable Moment.

To win the title of the Year's Most Unforgettable Moment, the Chicks and Bey faced down fierce competition: Also in the running for the honor were Randy Travis' performance at his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame; Sam Hunt’s surprise release of “Drinkin’ Too Much” and subsequent engagement to Hannah Lee Fowler; Jason Isbell's unexpected performance with his old band, the Drive By Truckers, at the Ryman Auditorium; the shocking death of lead character Rayna Jaymes on the hit show Nashville; and that one time when Florida Georgia Line performed with the Backstreet Boys at the 2017 ACM Awards.

Still, Queen Bey and the Dixie Chicks managed to earn more than 54 percent of the votes in the 2017 Golden Boot Awards poll. Travis' special moment came in second place -- and it was close!

In the 2017 Golden Boot Awards Collaboration of the Year category, however, "Daddy Lessons" left the other nominees in the dust: The performance claimed nearly 64 percent of the votes in that category. The closest runner-up in the poll was the "Forever Country" medley, recorded for the 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards.

Also among this year's Golden Boot Awards Collaboration of the Year nominees were Tim McGraw and Faith Hill with “Speak to a Girl;” Dierks Bentley and Elle King with “Different for Girls;” McGraw and Florida Georgia Line with “May We All;” and Old 97’s and Brandi Carlile with “Good With God."

“Daddy Lessons” is originally from Beyonce’s surprise 2016 album, Lemonade. Prior to teaming up with Beyonce for the CMAs, the Dixie Chicks had been covering the song in concert; following their CMAs performance, the two acts made a studio version of the song available for download.
