Why Amarillo, Texas Area Elections Matter More Than You Might Think
It seems that every time we turn around, an election is coming up. Once we get done with one, we get a break for a month or two and BOOM! Another election is upon us.
I don't know about you, but the amount of fliers I have received from candidates in the last few months is enough for me to heat my house for a year. It blows my mind thinking about the amount of money that has gone into this mail campaign for each candidate.
I digress.
Elections are important, and it is a chance to get people in the right positions to make sure our city, counties, and country are run properly. Heck, I think our city and county elections are way more important than our national elections, because our local elections affect our day-to-day lives way more and our pocketbooks.

Who Should I Vote For in the Amarillo Election?
I couldn't care less who you vote for; that is between you, God, and the candidate. It's who you believe is the best choice. Only you can make that decision. However, what I do care about is exercising your right to vote. Too many people these days don't take the time to make their voice heard. Let your voice be heard!
Let's just look at the Mayor Candidates:
- If you like the way Amarillo is going and the direction it's moving, then Cole Stanley, the current Mayor, is for you.
- If you want your potholes and infrastructure fixed, then Jason Herrick is the right choice.
- If you want someone who isn't backed by big money and is new to politics, and is taking a chance because they believe in the people and Amarillo, then Misty Collier or Luke Marek are the candidates.
Your vote counts, so get out and vote!

My Kid Asked Who To Vote For, I Said Do Your Homework
This will be the first election that my son will have a chance to vote in, and he asked who he should vote for, and my answer was, "Kid, you're going to have to do the research and decide which candidates are best for you." He responded with "OK, Mom, can we all go vote together?" Of course, that's something special parents and kids get to experience together.
Happy voting!
