You've heard of BBQ cookoffs and chili cookoffs, but when was the last time you experienced a burger cookoff? There is just something about a perfectly cooked burger. You can't go wrong with an all-beef patty with cheese, topped with the perfect condiments on a beautiful bun.

Now that you're drooling and craving a burger, here's your chance to mark your calendar to enjoy great burgers, or introduce the world to your best burger and vie for the title. Plus, you can't have a burger without dessert.

What to Know About the Burger Bash Cookoff

The Elks Lodge 923 right here in Amarillo is hosting their first Burger Bash Cookoff. The event takes place at the lodge located at 932 Clyde St., Saturday, August 15, from 1-6pm. This is the inaugural Burger Bash Cookoff, giving Amarillo a new food competition to enjoy for years to come, while helping support the Elks Lodge 923 charities.

How to Enter the Burger or Dessert Contest

If you think you have what it takes to make the best burger, then you want to sign up today to compete. Plus, you can get creative with your meats. The best burger wins. The entry fee is $30 per team. All burgers must be cooked on site.

Now, if you think you have what it takes to create a dessert that will knock the socks off even the most trained dessert connoisseur, here's your chance to show off your sweet talents. The entry fee is $10 and can be prepared off-site. Email chilibums@yahoo.com to get entered into the competition.

Wristbands, Swimming Passes and What's Included

Now, if you aren't a burger chef or a dessert creator and just love to eat, then you'll want to make plans to just come out and eat! Wristbands are $10 per person in advance, or $15 after August 12.  All wristbands include a burger, chips, and dessert.  A cash bar will also be available.

Become A Part of the Elks Lodge 923

The event is open to the public, and you don't have to be an Elks Member to attend. It's your chance to see who the Elks are, and who knows, you might want to join and be a part of this great organization.

Where the Proceeds Go

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Elks Sweetheart Program, the Chili Bums, and Chive Charities.

  • The Elks Sweetheart Program - a year-long volunteer and fundraising effort where local lodges choose a representative to support state major projects, notably children's camps and special needs grants. 100% of proceeds go to the Texas Elks Camp providing summer camps for special needs children.
  • Chive Charities - provides life-changing grants and assistance to veterans, first responders, and people living with rare medical conditions and disabilities.
  • Chili Bums - a competitive cook and show team whose goal is to help non-profits raise money. They are the reigning Large Showman Champions at CASI Terlingua Cook-Off and will return to defend their title on November 17.
