Get Ready Amarillo More Storage at New Heights
Storage is something we as humans just don't have enough of to store all our stuff. We continuously need more room to fill.
Is there such a thing as too much storage? Can one really have too much storage?
Apparently in Amarillo, the answer is no, and if you look all over town and outside of town, more and more storage facilities are being built.
Do you know what they are building next to Toot N Totum across from Ashley Furniture at I-27 and Western?
We always get questions like this sent to us, and yes, we know what is building built in that location. The simple answer is storage.
But not just any storage, some amazing state-of-the-art, Uhaul Storage. No, not storage for Uhauls, but it will be a storage site located at Uhaul. There was a fenced-in area at that spot that used to house RVs, boats, vehicles, etc. It is also home to multiple storage units, but they are full. The RVs, boats, etc are no longer there, but there is now a concrete slab and a few tall cinder block towers.
This is the beginning of the new Uhaul Storage facility. I had the honor of speaking to the General Manager Dan Sommers, and he filled me in on the new fantastic facility that is being built. Their storage expansion will be a three-story with 765 storage rooms. The facility will also have a 600 UBox warehouse attached to it. This building will be 87,000 square feet.
This will be a nice facility where you will be able to drive in and unload or pick up your stuff and you won't have to worry about what the weather is doing outside.
The facility will also have a very nice security system, so you won't have to worry about your belongings. They will have amazing cameras with great clarity. Sommers also said that if for some reason the alarm went off, not only would the facility receive a text, but the person renting the unit would be alerted as well.
When Will it Open?
According to Sommers, the facility was supposed to be open this month in December, but due to a steel shortage, it has been difficult to get the supplies they need to finish the build, so now the new facility is looking at an opening date of March.
