This Texas Small-Town Restaurant Just Made an Exciting Comeback

About 40 miles northeast of Amarillo, Texas on Highway 60 between Panhandle and Pampa is a town named White Deer. It is named after the nearby White Deer Creek. Legend has it that an Indian saw an albino deer drinking from the creek, hence the name.

As with many small towns, when a business closes, it is felt throughout the community. On November 10, 2023, after 8 years, the community lost a popular restaurant. Many people were saddened by the news.

• I’m so sad! No more Friday night calf fries! They were so good! Dad and I enjoyed them a lot! One of the last times we ate calf fries! It’s always fun with good friends!
• Oh no we loved that place! So sorry!!

Many memories and amazing meals were shared behind the doors of this iconic restaurant. Main Street initially felt empty, but the emptiness didn’t last long.

Harrah's Bar and Grille is Open Again in White Deer, Texas

The restaurant's General Manager Matthew Pollster reached out and let us know that Harrah's was once again open for business and serving up that delicious food.

Yes!  The calf fries are back.

You'll notice a few changes to the restaurant.  The logo has changed colors to reflect the colors of the White Deer Bucks.  Plus, the restaurant hours are different than they were, and they are open on Monday.

Harrah's will be open 7 days a week:

• Monday - Thursday 11 am - 9 pm with the bar open until 10 pm
• Friday and Saturday 11 am - 9 pm with the bar open until 12 am
• Sunday 12- 6 pm

They offer pizza specials for high school students, and will have catfish during Lent.  They have a full bar and pool, shuffle board, and cornhole.  When the weather gets warmer, you can come and hang out on the patio.
