Our children are everything.

More than anything, parents want to make sure their children are safe. Working outside the home means you have to entrust the care of your children to someone else. So, how do you know for sure if that place or person is safe?

The answer lies in research.

I know when my son needed childcare I researched for months to find the perfect person and the perfect place. I was blessed to have a wonderful caregiver his the first 18 months of his life and a perfect place that watched him until he started middle school. I would love to recommend his daycare to the world, but unfortunately, the owners retired and the daycare closed.

It takes research and it takes talking to other parents to find out where is the best place for you and your child.

You will find some flaws or some bad reviews about every daycare in Amarillo, but what you should really find out is how many violations have been found by the State licensing agency, and if they have been corrected. Then you should look for reviews How many people have pulled their children from a particular daycare and how many employees have worked at the facility in a certain period of time?

First of all, ask your friends, and ask different mom groups on social media.  Ask co-workers about the daycare or caregiver they use.  Ask for recommendations and ask where you shouldn't put your kids.  You are guaranteed to get a list of places that a lot of people highly recommend, and you'll also find out which places to avoid at all costs. Then you'll get a bunch of reasons why.  You'll find out fast where you don't want to place your children.

You can also research daycare facilities and caregivers on the Texas Department of Health and Human Services website.  You can find out if the daycare you are looking at is in compliance, how many violations have occurred, how high the employee turnover is, and if any serious injuries have happened on-site.
