This morning, a coworker and I had an appointment at one of the TV stations downtown. I jumped on I-40 east and was shocked when I found traffic backed up at 10 AM. As I got closer to the downtown exits, I noticed why.

Lane closures were funneling us all into the left lanes.

Heads up if you will be traveling on I-40 east any time soon. As I was heading back west, I noticed traffic backed up even further, and it was practically at a standstill. My coworker and I both couldn't believe how backed up everything was heading east.

Looking at TxDOT's website, there are a couple of projects in that area. You can look at the project tracker by following this link. While looking at the project tracker, you can also take a look at this map to see what conditions are like and check camera feeds to see the traffic situation.

Slow down in the construction areas, and play nice with those trying to merge onto the highway. I watched one vehicle sit for an awfully long time trying to get on the highway this morning. Your best bet may be to find another way to get where you need to go for a little while. Just avoid using eastbound I-40 near the interchange for a little while.

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.

Amarillo Landmarks: Negative Yelp Reviews

Yelp can be a strange and angry place. That's what I found out recently when I decided to sort the reviews by "lowest rating" first.

I was okay with the people upset over bad service and what not. But I came across a few reviews that, for lack of a better word, left me speechless in their scathing negative reviews on some of Amarillo's most iconic places. Prepare your self for plenty of head shaking and "I dunno" shrugs.
