I love it when my past few stories have been nothing but good times while out delivering in Amarillo. Yes, there is still construction, and there are still bad tippers, but it is nice when the good can outshine the negative.

I was out delivering over the weekend, and I was about to call it a day and head back home. I only do a few deliveries a day just to keep my numbers up where I need them. I still like making the extra money, don't get me wrong, but I also like spending time with my family.

So I got a final order that ended up being a double order. I had to pick up from two different places and drop off at two different customers. OK, not bad. So I got the orders picked up and headed to my first drop-off location.

As I was grabbing her Starbucks from the trunk of my car in my catering bag, I headed to her door. I was a 'leave at the door' delivery, but she walked out. She was wearing this comfy-looking blanket-dress type outfit to keep warm on a cold day. So she asked how I liked it.

Recognizing the Face: From Canyon Schools to Amarillo Doorsteps

I told her it was cute and looked warm. Much needed that day. I looked at her for a second and thought that I recognized her. I had her first name on the bag, so I asked her if I had her correct last name as I proceeded to tell her what it was. She looked at me and got a big smile.

Yes, it was her. This customer attended the same high school as me, years ago. We went to Canyon schools together. I recognized her and shared my last name, both from back in high school and my current one. We were actually in the same group of friends back then and are still friends on social media.

A Small World Moment: Living Two Blocks from the Past

So we chatted for a bit, and I let her know that I lived a couple of blocks from her. What a small world, and we talked about making plans to do stuff when my family moves back to Dallas. It was a great surprise recognizing someone from my high school days.

The Digital Follow-Up: Reconnecting via Social Media

As I left and made my second delivery, so I could head home, I received a message from her on Facebook

best coffee ever! delivered by a friend… so nice to see you, heart

A nice day out delivering left me reconnected with a friend from back in the day. I am all for that.
