It's one of the things people tend to complain about the most. Not just in Amarillo, but wherever in the United States you live. I'm talking about drinking tap water. Yes, there are so many who won't go near it.

Now, while I'll say there are definitely places I've lived where the tap water really did have some kind of funky taste to it, I can say that Amarillo isn't one of those places. In fact, it might be one of the better places I've had tap water.

Well, the latest water quality report has dropped for Amarillo, and it confirmed my thoughts that the tap water here isn't all that bad. In fact, Amarillo's water system nabbed a Superior Rating with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Yes, superior. Let that sink in for a minute. We have superior water here in Amarillo. They post the levels of all the different contaminants and products they put in the water in order to make it safe and drinkable.

Looking over those numbers, it would appear that Amarillo has come in WAY under the levels of what are considered "acceptable" when it comes to the water we utilize and drink. The report shows we never approach dangerous levels on anything, nor do we have any violations when it comes to our water.

So go ahead, it's ok to drink the tap water in Amarillo. Based on these numbers, it's beyond safe. Save yourself a little money from buying all those water bottles and get yourself some ice cream or something to stay cool this summer.
