Amarillo’s Thompson Park Pool Opens May 23

Lately, we've been talking about and thinking about summer a lot in Amarillo. If you're a parent, it's because your kids are about to be out for three months, and you are stressing about what to do with that.

You're also thinking about the warmer temps, the outdoor activities, and all the things you're going to get to enjoy as summer approaches. One of those things is hitting the pool, getting in some good swims, and grabbing a tan.

Thompson Park Pool Set To Open

Memorial Day weekend always brings about the openings of so many different outdoor things, and the pools are always at the top of that list. There is nothing more anticipated than those openings, and lines to get in are present.

Thompson Park Pool will be opening their gates on May 23rd, signaling the official beginning of summer. If you don't know, Thompson Park Pool is the PREMIER pool to hit up in Amarillo, complete with water slides and tons of room. It's also the ONLY outdoor pool that will be open this summer.

Southeast & Southwest Pools Remain Closed

Initially, both Southeast and Southwest pools were permanently closed, but after the city received some backlash, they decided to do some more research and explore the potential to reopen those pools after some renovations. We're still waiting for the findings on that.

Because of that, it means Thompson Park Pool is going to be JAMMED up this summer, so you're going to want to be there early if you want to take advantage of it. There will be sessions for you to attend, so you will get your chance. Just don't expect an empty pool this summer.
