
Former Accelerate Christian School Teacher Sentenced for Improper Relationship with a Student
A former Amarillo coach has been sentenced for an improper relationship with a student.
Kegan Abram was sentenced on two counts of indecency with a child sexual contact and improper relationship between an educator and student stemming from an arrest in October of 2024.

All three of those counts are considered second-degree felonies.
On October 21, 2024, the Accelerate Christian School released a statement stating that Abram was no longer employed with their organization.
What Was the Sentence Kegan Abram Received?
According to court records on January 21, 2025, Abram took a plea deal. He pled guilty to lesser indecent assaults on counts 1 and 2. He also pled guilty on count 3 which was the improper relationship with a student. For Counts 1 and 2 he received a 2-year deferred sentence. On Count 3 he was given a 10-year deferred sentence with a $10,000 fine, $7,000 of that fine was suspended.
He has to follow all sex offender conditions for the rest of his life. He is to have no contact with the victim or anyone under 17 and is not allowed within 1,000 feet of Accelerate Church or School. He is not allowed to hold a teaching job and must relinquish all teaching permits. Plus, 30 days in jail as a condition of probation.
What is a Deferred Sentence in Texas?
It is deferred adjudication, which means the person receiving a deferred sentence is on community probation which allows them to avoid a conviction sentence on their record.
The person receiving the deferred sentence must adhere to the following:
- All the Laws of Texas
- Cannot use alcohol and illegal substances and harmful habits
- Must submit to random urinalysis
- Cannot be around harmful people or places
- Has to report regularly to a probation officer
- Must be employed
- Pay all court fines and expenses.
Ten years is the maximum deferred sentence a person can receive for a felony.
