Amarillo’s Healthcare Expands with a New ER Opening Soon
At one point in time, Amarillo's only spot for emergent care was at either hospital. There was an ER at BSA Hospital and one at Northwest Texas Hospital. Over the years, stand-alone ERs started popping up all over the city.
Not long after the stand-alone ERs started moving in, the hospitals began to open other ERs in the area. The first stand-alone ER opened by Northwest Texas Hospital is 8960 Hillside Road, Northwest Emergency Town Square. It gave patients an additional choice of locations for emergency care.
On November 16, 2023, the Northwest Texas Healthcare System held a groundbreaking for the new Northwest Emergency Tascosa, and almost two years later, the new ER will be opening. The new Northwest Emergency will be located at 4207 W. Amarillo Blvd.

When will Northwest Emergency Tascosa Open?
A ribbon cutting will be held on Thursday, February 20th at 3pm. The new ER is expected to open for service on Monday, February 24th. The new emergency room will include:
- 9 private treatment rooms
- Diagnostic imaging services including computed tomography (CT) scans, digital
- X-ray and ultrasound
- 24-hour lab services
- Cardiopulmonary monitoring
- Respiratory treatments
- Intravenous medications and fluids
The New Northwest Emergency Tascosa will be open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
Northwest Texas Healthcare System had a groundbreaking for a new ER on the Eastside not long after announcing the new Northwest Emergency Tascosa. This new facility will be located at 4409 I-40 East and is expected to be open sometime this year.
