Each year around this time of year, the blood supply drops because people are traveling and doing other things and have a hard time getting by and giving blood.

Unfortunately, the need for blood doesn't stop because it is Christmas.  In fact, the need for blood grows due to accidents and emergencies during the holiday.

That's why Coffee Memorial Blood Center needs your help.   They want to make sure they have a more than adequate blood supply before Christmas.  They will be at Market Street United, 2530 S. Georgia,  this Thursday, December 8th from 10 am - 3 pm.  Just look for the Bloodmobile.

“Texans have continued to donate and ensure that the local blood supply is able to meet the demand,” said John Armitage, M.D., president and CEO of Coffee Memorial Blood Center. “This year, we continued to face unprecedented challenges and obstacles. As we enter the holiday season, we encourage you to take just an hour out of your busy schedule to give the precious gift of life this holiday season.”

If you stop by and donate blood then you're gonna get a choice of a really cool t-shirt including their “Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins” T-shirt or the “Be A Deer” T-shirt.  Not only will you get your choice of t-shirts, but you will also receive one free entry to the Discovery Center and a coupon for a gallon of milk.   Plus, a drawing each hour for a $100 gift card to United Supermarkets.

If you are a United Supermarkets employee and you donate you'll be able to wear your Coffee Memorial Blood Center t-shirt to work on December 9th.

You can make an appointment to donate at yourbloodinstitute.org or call 806-331-8833.
