Former Perryton ISD Athletic Director Arrested

Unfortunately, the news coming out of Perryton, Texas isn't good. According to Ochiltree County Sheriff’s Office, Perryton Athletic Director Cole Underwood has been arrested for sexual assault of a child. He is accused of having relations with a child under the age of 17.

Underwood joined Perryton ISD in 2023 after coaching at Amarillo High School from 2017-2022.

Underwood is no longer listed on the Perryton ISD website and a job listing for Athletic Director and Head Football Coach has been posted.

This isn’t the first time a Perryton ISD teacher has been arrested for an improper relationship with a student.

On April 14, 2022, a warrant was issued for a former Perryton High School teacher, David Allan Drew. He was accused of an improper relationship with a 17-year-old student.

In 2016, a Perryton Junior High School teacher was accused of inappropriate behavior but no charges were officially filed.
