Places to Live in Amarillo Safe from Hereford’s Smell
Let's face it if you live anywhere within a 45-mile radius of Hereford, you will smell Hereford.
It's been called the smell of money
It's a running joke about how the rain always goes around Hereford because of the poop dome. However, the smell escapes that dome and emanates all over the Texas Panhandle.
Places in Amarillo to live to escape the Hereford Smell
Underground
Underground, you are avoiding the smells of those things that are floating in the air. However, you might just pick up the musty smell of being under the ground.
A Clean Room
A clean room has all the filters to keep anything and everything out of the room. Unfortunately, the only clean rooms you will find are in a lab and probably at Pantex. So unless you have a ton of money to drop, a clean room may not be feasible.
Bottom of Palo Duro Canyon
Let's face it once you are at the bottom of Palo Duro Canyon, you smell nature. You are smelling the creeks, the walls of the PDC, the trees and plants, and the occasional gift left by the wildlife. But not Hereford, all that smell is stuck up at the top of the Canyon.
Near Tyson
The cows may be in Hereford, but what happens to the cows, is at Tyson and that smell will take over anything Hereford has to offer.
Lake Tanglewood
It's a lake, so it smells like a lake. Lake smell overtakes Hereford smell any day.
Hospital
The cleaning and medicinal smell will infiltrate your nostrils, and save you while you are within the walls, but once you walk out those doors all bets are off.
Or you could just wear a gas mask?
This is all in jest, Hereford isn't that bad, and Amarillo is also surrounded by feed lots. Hereford just gets the bad rap because it is the Beef Capitol of the World.
