Shark Beach Is Teaching Amarillo How to Build a Proper Sandcastle
The closest beach to Amarillo is about 600 miles away, or a 10-hour drive. That's a long way to enjoy the splash in the Gulf and the sand between your toes. The closest thing we have to a beach near Amarillo is Lake Meredith, but it's really more like dirt mixed with pebbles and sand. If you have a big old sandbox, you can pretend you're at the beach.
One of the fun things about being at the beach is building sandcastles. All you need is a few tools and some creativity, and you can build the castle and moat of your dreams. However, if your sandcastles end up looking like a pile of sand, we have just the thing you've been waiting for. You can learn new techniques to build better sandcastles this Sunday.
Where Is Amarillo's Closest Thing to a Beach?
