Sunset Marketown Coming to Amarillo this Summer

One of the great things about Summer in Amarillo and Canyon, Texas is the weekend markets. They are a great place to get fresh fruits and vegetables, artisan items, homemade goods, and food.

It was announced earlier that the Amarillo Community Market would not return to Downtown Amarillo this summer.

Amarillo Community Market had eight great seasons. In 2023, several factors impacted our market including the floods, the heat, and the drought, which hurt our local growers...Center City is grateful for the support of our Amarillo Community Market. After the closing of the announcement of the Amarillo Community Market closing, that would mean Amarillo would not have a community market this summer. However, that doesn't seem to be the case.

The Golden Spread Farmers Market has been open in Amarillo for decades however something new is coming this summer.

Arts in the Sunset is teaming up with the Golden Spread Farmers Markets and hosting a new event.

Along with the Golden Spread Farmers Markets local groups including artisans, creators, bakers, and others will be able to sell their creative products to the citizens of Amarillo.

The Sunset Marketown will be open for the season on Saturdays, from June 8 - September 28th. If you were a vendor at the Amarillo Community Market or you are someone who would like to be a part of the new Sunset Marketown, here's your chance.

We are already home to the Golden Spread Farmers Market, and after discussing it with them, we felt it would amplify visitors to their booths to have another makers market coinciding with theirs. Sunset Marketown and the Golden Spread Farmers Markets will be hosted outside at Arts in the Sunset. The Golden Spread Farmers Market will be located at the north colonnade. The Sunset Marketown will be located in the AJ Swope Performance Plaza.

The Golden Spread Farmer's Market is open during their season on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 7 am. If you're interested in becoming a vendor, visit their page.

Amarillo and Canyon Farmer's Markets

Amarillo and Canyon have some great community and farmers' markets.

They take place in the summer into early fall. It's an opportunity to find fresh produce, one-of-a-kind items, jams, jellies, bread, and more.

Canyon Farmers Market - Square in Canyon

Saturdays 8am-12pm

Amarillo Community Market - 1000 S. Polk St.

Saturdays 8am - 12:30pm

Golden Spread Farmers Market - 3701 Plains Blvd. Parking Lot

Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 7 am until sell out.

Early in the season of this market produce is scarce as the season moves on and crops are harvested, you'll see more and more of your favorite veggies.
