Living in Amarillo is cool. Literally.

Over the weekend there had been rescues in Palo Duro Canyon due to the extreme heat. They even sent out messages that they were closing the trail to the Lighthouse on Sunday.

Hot summers are mostly just an inconvenience, but every summer in El Paso we see tragic stories about kids getting left in a hot car.

At least we're almost out of the summer months, and our focus will no longer be on staying cool.

When it comes to roadwork, the extreme heat has not slowed construction crews down across the Texas panhandle.

As the temperatures soar into the triple digits, Xcel is closing motoring power needs across the region to meet the demands.

Summer may not have officially arrived in Amarillo just yet, but we are going to feel some extreme heat on Thursday throughout the panhandle.

From snow earlier in the month, to some strong storms, and now record heat, April 2020 will certainly be one to remember.

Amarillo heat during the summer can be brutal but just hearing that you need to drink “lots” of water can be unclear.

We have had some beautiful weather here in the Texas Panhandle. We have also had some less than stellar days. It's I guess what we love about the Panhandle.
