Mabank, Texas Firefighter Kurtis Cook says his comments on the South Carolina massacre were simply taken out of context.

According to an interview conducted by KLTV, Cook says he was responding to a previous comment, which was then misconstrued.

"When I was looking at the threads and you know I was just reading down and there was a person there that posted that Wyatt was donating a large sum of money to the victims, so I just said this person ought to be praised for his good deed," explained Cook.

Cook says that since the story went viral, he has become a social media target. He holds fast that he has never been racist. He told KLTV he now has to relocate because of threats made towards his family.

Unfortunately for Cook, the screenshot of his comments that went viral does not show any comments before his to confirm his story. KLTV says the newspaper was also unable to find the previous comments.

So was Cook just the victim of being ignorant about how Facebook works, or was he really referring to the Charleston shooter? If he is indeed telling the truth, it's an absolutely frightening and sad story of how quickly someone's life can be completely ruined over a misunderstood Facebook comment.
