Texas Gas Prices Keep Rising as Oil Tops $90

Now that we're getting closer to the end of summer vacation and the start of school is sneaking up, Texas families now have to worry about gas prices skyrocketing and putting an even bigger strain on the budget.

The news isn't good this week when it comes to gas prices. Prices are continuing to rise. According to AAA Texas, gas prices jumped 16 more cents this week to $3.71 per gallon for regular unleaded. Right now, Tyler is paying the least at $3.57 per gallon, while El Paso is still paying the most at $3.96 per gallon. Nationally, people are paying over $4 at $4.09 per gallon.

Tyler: $3.57 - Last week: $3.42 - up 15 cents from last week
Abilene: $3.76 - Last week: $3.55 - up 21 cents from last week
El Paso: $3.96 - Last week: $3.95 - up 1 cent from last week

What's Driving the Price Increase

How Crude Oil Prices Are Affecting Texas Drivers

Nationally, oil is at $90 per barrel. According to OilPrice.com, Brent Crude is currently $101.90 per barrel, and WTI Crude is $93.98 per barrel.

According to Yahoo Finance, Patrick De Haan with GasBuddy said,

It's not just the U.S. and Iran and the Strait of Hormuz that's impacting prices. In the last probably six weeks or so, we've seen multiple significant Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries.

When Could Gas Prices Drop

There doesn't look like there is any relief in sight. De Haan went on to say that we do tend to see gas prices decline in the fall. So hopefully, if we can hold on a little longer, gas prices will start to dip.
