It seems that the corner of I-40 and Soncy took a hit when 3 major businesses closed their doors and left Amarillo.  However, slowly but surely new businesses have moved in and the one remaining building will have a new life.

Pier 1 Imports closed its doors in 2020 and the building has been sitting empty ever since.  It joined Toys R Us and On the Border in the businesses that closed their doors in that area.  I liked buying certain things from Pier 1 and I miss that.

However, the old OTB building became a Twin Peaks, Toys R Us building became Northern Tool and Boot Barn, and now the new Pier 1 building is getting a familiar business.

It's not a brand new business, but a current business getting a new building.

According to Taytlynn Perez with Party City, Party City will be moving into the old Pier 1 building.  They are hoping to move into the new building in June or July.

This will be a busier location for Party City, they are currently located at Bell and 34th in The Village Shopping Center.

I'll be a little sad because they are pretty much around the corner from work, but I don't mind driving a little further if the bigger building means more inventory to shop.

Amarillo is a growing city and I think this is a perfect spot for Party City.   Plus, it's one less empty building for travelers to see when they are making their way on I-40.

My question now is what's going to go in the old Party City space?  Hmmm?
