If you're looking for ways to keep the kids preoccupied in the remaining summer months, I've stumbled on something that might help you fill a few afternoons with activities. Get into the spirit of adventure.

The "Spirit of Adventure" is a program that will take you and the kids to several of the major attractions around Amarillo and Canyon. Everything from Cadillac Ranch to the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum is on the list.

The way it works is that you get your map of the Amarillo and Canyon area, and then start planning your adventures to the different locations. Along the way, you're encouraged to snag a few photos, and post to social media.

I've had the conversation with several other parents, and it's tough constantly trying to come up with stuff for the kids to do. After all of the hustle and bustle of the week is through, most of us don't have the energy to sit and come up with a weekend excursion.

I know I just want to sleep most of the time.

At the very least with this program, you get a map. This map has all of the major kid friendly attractions in the area, or at least most of them. Personally, I'd keep it for future reference.

The other good part is that it won't necessarily break the bank to pull off. Most of the places on the map don't cost much, if at all. It's not like you're going to be doing damage on your wallet every weekend.
