Exploring the Amarillo Food Scene through a Tourist’s Taste Buds
When it comes to food in Amarillo, Texas, we as residents know where the most delicious local spots reside. Anyone who travels knows that when you come to a town, you ask a local where to eat so you can find the great spots with the best food.
It is fun when people who aren't familiar with our city get to experience the hole-in-the-walls that we know and love for their food, then share it with the world.

The English Field House Restaurant
His first stop was the English Field House.
Although I usually enjoy the breakfast from the English Field House. There's something about munching on some eggs and pancakes while watching airplanes take off.

575 Pizzeria
Jordan Tries ventured to 575 Pizzeria, and we all know this is one great place in Amarillo to get amazing brick oven pizza. Looks like he's trying out their Chicken Bacon Ranch and The Surgeon.
I'm a fan of their white pies, and I love 575 Pizzeria for their housemade sangria.
The Golden Light Cafe
Jordan Tries then took a trip on 6th street for one of the best burgers at one of the oldest restaurants in Amarillo, The Golden Light Cafe.
Jordan missed out on the green chile; it looks like it's missing from those cheese fries and from that burger. So if you're coming to visit, you have to have the green chile on your burger and fries at The Golden Light.
Sharky's Burrito Company
Jordan Tries also tried Sharky's, and truthfully, who doesn't love a big ol' Sharky's Burrito
It looks like he missed out on that jalapeno cheddar tortilla, but was baptized in spicy ranch.
Green Chile Willy's
Green Chile Willy's is one of the best places for chicken fried steak! Oh, and that special dessert.
As a local, I will admit that I haven't had a chance to try that fried pecan pie. The only reason for that is that I'm always so stuffed from the chicken fried steak that there isn't any room for pecan ice cream goodness.
Bracero's Mexican Bar and Grill on Route 66
Jordan went for the Plato Tejano and got to try his very first chile rellano. He picked the perfect place to experience a rellano for the first time.
Bracero's is great, and one of my favorite dishes is their carne guisada.
If you are visiting Amarillo, once you experience some of the local places, you can't leave the Yellow City without trying one of the restaurants that made it famous.
The Big Texan
Jordan stopped by The Big Texan on his Amarillo Food Tour. He didn't take on the 72oz Steak Challenge, but got a bone-in ribeye. Then crunched into the jalapeno that comes on every plate. He did say he would come back and do the steak challenge if he got 5,000 likes on this video; he's halfway to his goal.
Did Jordan Tries make it to some of the best local places in Amarillo? Where should he have gone?
