The Texas Panhandle is full of a lot of great cities and towns.  Most of our smaller towns are farming and ag towns, but full of personality.

One of those cities is White Deer.   White Deer is about 40 miles Northeast of Amarillo between Panhandle and Pampa and located in Carson County.   White Deer has a population of about 900 people.

It is a small, close-knit community so when a business closes it not only hurts the owners but the entire town.  The loss is felt all over.

That's why when we hear about the closing of a beloved restaurant in White Deer we know the town is going to feel the loss for a while.

Harrah's Bar and Grille is closing its doors on Friday, November 10th.

According to a post on their Facebook page:

After 8 happy years, we say with a heavy hearth that our last day of business will be November 10th.

We will miss all the wonderful guests we have come to know and love. Rising costs ans staffing challenges have led us to this difficult decision. Thank you for all your support and memories we have made along the way.

This is not goodbye, but a thank you.

Folks from all over the Texas Panhandle came from all over for the Harrah's Calf Fries and Chicken Fried Steak.   They were once a great stop for breakfast as well.

Unfortunately, this was the only restaurant in White Deer.  The only other option now is to go and grab a burrito and drink from Allsup's or drive to Pampa or Panhandle.

As mentioned before this will be a loss for the city, but the entire Texas Panhandle as well.   Go out and support them before they close on Friday, November 10th.

Main Streets of the Texas Panhandle

Main Streets are the heart of our towns. They were the place to be, the place to shop, the place to bank, the place to eat.

Over the years, Main Streets have gone by the wayside, but some of our towns have had huge revitalization of their main streets.
