We all know about the sneaky little Elf on the Shelf.  He comes out to keep and eye on the kids before Santa comes and creates all sorts of havoc around the house.  In one Amarillo resident's house there is not elf, but St. Nicholas has some fun adventures.

While I was scrolling through Facebook one day, I ran across a post from on of Amarillo's favorite people Penni Bentley.

She had a picture of a stuffed Santa having coffee and flipping through a photo album.  I reached out to Penni and asked if I could use her picture and asked her where this idea came from.

When you're kids get older, the Elf on the Shelf stops coming.  When that happens sometimes creativity from parents who long for the days of having little kids, get a bit fun crazed.

Penni tells us the story of how this Santa came about.

My mom won that Santa as a door prize somewhere years ago, and we had it when the kids were little. And then when they were teenagers, we drug it out one year and Grace (her daughter) came up with the Saint Nicholas is ridiculous thing. It popped up in my Facebook memories yesterday and I had sent it to Chad (her husband), and then I discovered him out this morning, so clearly Chad revived the tradition.

When you gotta go, you gotta go, even St. Nick.

St. Nick even took part in the Christmas decoration contest (and won a prize)

Penni and her husband Chad are empty nesters as both their kids are in college, but they are keeping the Christmas fun alive.

Can you imagine?  I love the idea of creating a fun family tradition that continues through the years.  These ideas can come from anywhere, just look, this all started with a stuffed Santa.  I can't help but wonder what ridiculousness St. Nicholas ends up in next.
