You Can Still Get Board Games And Video Games In Amarillo
I've been wondering how small businesses were adjusting with all of the recent changes due to social distancing guidelines. I've also been trying to find some things for the kids to keep them entertained while we spend a lot more time at home.
It seemed like everything was sold out or closed. Then I stumbled upon a Facebook post from Game Quest.
Game Quest is still open, and they have found ways to continue operating under the new guidelines. They offer delivery and curb-side pickup of board games, video games, consoles, and pretty much every other form of "at home" entertainment you can think of.
They're only allowing one customer in the store at a time. While I was there, someone came by for curb-side pickup of Super Mario Bros. 2.
The owner told me that there is a lot of cleaning involved. They wipe down everything with disinfectant wipes. When they do contactless delivery, they wipe everything down before leaving it on your porch. You pay with Paypal, Venmo, or whatever service you use.
My kids have been going crazy being cooped up at home, and there's only so much of our backyard they can explore every single day. I was really glad to see a place like Game Quest still operating, and finding ways to do so within guidelines.
I see a lot of people talking about how small businesses will be destroyed, and I myself have worried about how small business owners will be able to keep going. It's nice to know that there are businesses out there coming up with new ways to still deliver their services to us, instead of caving to fear.
