71 Pounds Of Marijuana Siezed On I-40 & Western

A California man was arrested in Amarillo with 71 pounds of Marijuana in the trunk of his car, valued at $300,000!

Holy Crap! $300,000 worth of Marijuana was seized in Amarillo on a traffic stop according to the Amarillo Police Department. Gilbert Desoto, 61, of Milpitas, California was stopped by a local officer for speeding near I-40 & Western on Friday.

First off if your carrying something illegal why draw attention to yourself? I would be driving slower than a grandma, of course that would be if I did something illegal like this... WHICH I DON'T! Lets just clarify that. LOL!

Desoto was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a charge of possession of marijuana over 50 but less than 500 pounds.

On 1-24-14, at about 9:50 PM, an APD officer stopped a silver 2013 Chevrolet with California license plates that was eastbound on IH-40 near Western Street for speeding. During the course of the stop, the officer obtained consent to search the vehicle. When searching the trunk of the vehicle, the officer found duffle bags that contained multiple vacuum sealed bags of marijuana weighing from approximately two to seven pounds each. The total weight of the marijuana was about 71 pounds, with an estimated street value of $300,000. The driver of the vehicle, Gilbert Earl Desoto WM 61 of Milpitas, CA, was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a charge of possession of marijuana over 50 but less than 500 pounds.
